Have you heard songs where it appears as if a robot is singing a line instead of a person ? Want that effect for your songs ? Now you can. I've enclosed an image where you can see the huge differences in volumes on import. I'm trying to get the volumes acceptable before I burn a cd for a performing arts project. The vocoder is an effect on my voice saved as a wav. The vocoder comes with the latest Audacity and a plug-in with earlier versions. Drag the cursor over the part with the metallic sound to highlight. Once you have located the section, click 'Stop' Step 3. Click 'Play' and locate the section with the metallic, tin-like sound. Open Audacity, click 'File' and 'Open' and locate the file you want to fix. For mono tracks, only the 'mono/Left' gain control has any affect. Amplification could be applied using Audacity's Amplify effect, or more conveniently using the 'Input Gain' controls. In such cases, the audio should be amplified before limiting so that the limiter can work properly.
Well, I've gotten a lot of comments asking how I made these stupid vocoded videos, so I thought I'd explain the process I use. Select the plug-in(s) you want to install, then click Enable and OK. In Audacity 2.1.1 or later, use Effect Manage. To install a Nyquist plug-in, place its '.NY' file in the Audacity 'Plug-ins' folder.
